Career Training Scholarships Help Build Hands-On Skills

For 70 years, Lincoln schools around the country have been the place for hundreds of thousands of students ready to build skills that turn their passions into their professions. More than a quarter of a million graduates have launched new careers thanks to their Lincoln Tech training. And Lincoln’s career training scholarships have helped many of those dreams get off the ground.
This year, more than $15 million has been made available to qualified students around the country with Lincoln Tech career training scholarships. Included in those scholarship opportunities are three awards that celebrate and honor former members of the Lincoln family with funding to help build brighter futures for existing students.
CAREER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LINCOLN TECH STUDENTS
Lawrence E. Brown Leadership Award:
Lawrence E. Brown served as President and then as Vice Chairman of Lincoln Educational Services from 1999 to 2007. He began his career in 1973 as a High School Coordinator at the Norridge, Illinois campus (consolidated into the Melrose Park campus in 2001). He advanced to roles including Director at two Chicago-area schools, and then relocated to the east coast in 1984 to become Regional Vice President in 1989. His dedication to Lincoln inspired the award that bears his name.
The Lawrence E. Brown Leadership Award is presented to students who exhibit leadership qualities in their personal lives and in their school careers. Students from all Lincoln Tech campuses are eligible.
David F. Carney Excellence in Nursing Award:
David F. Carney joined Lincoln in 1999 as Chairman and CEO, and served in those capacities until his retirement in 2010. During his tenure, he broadened the diversity of educational programs of the company and grew the number of campus locations around the country to an all-time high. Both this scholarship and the Practical Nursing training program at the Paramus, NJ campus bear his name.
This award is presented to students around the country who exhibit high standards of excellence in both the academic and clinical arenas of their Practical Nursing training.
Barbara Kalinchack Excellence Award:
The award is named in honor of a longtime member of the Lincoln Tech family at Union, NJ. Ms. Kalinchak began her career at Lincoln more than 50 years ago, and came to be known as a highly respected leader, colleague and friend. She earned a reputation as a model of perfection and demanded excellence from those who worked with her. Ms. Kalinchak was also the first recipient of Lincoln’s Chairman’s Field Service Award in 2002.
Each year one outstanding Automotive Technology, HVAC, or Electrical and Electronic Systems Technology student at Lincoln Tech’s Union campus is recognized for his/her achievement with the Barbara Kalinchack Excellence Award.
