Lincoln Culinary Institute (LCI) in Columbia, Maryland has the ingredients you need to turn your love of baking into a fun and exciting career. The International Baking and Pastry program at LCI, a division of Lincoln College of Technology, teaches international baking techniques inside European-style kitchens staffed by master chef instructors. You will create pastry showpieces made from sugar, bake artisan breads and learn to prepare classical pastries such as cookies, éclairs, cakes, pies and more.
Along the way you’ll complete coursework that gives you hands-on experience in:
- The foundations of the Culinary Arts
- Food service operations
- Food and beverage management
- American and European pastries
- Sugar and chocolate artistry
- And a lot more!
You’ll also complete three 90-hour externships, giving you the chance to learn from, and work side-by-side with, baking and pastry professionals who make their livings doing exactly what you want to do for a career! There’s no better way to experience life in the world of baking and pastry.
As a student at LCI, you’ll also receive a valuable introduction to the world of food service operations which includes prepping food stations, working with other industry professionals and exploring beverage management so you can distinguish wines by grape, variety and production. These are skills that you can apply to careers in a number of different culinary fields!
