Lincoln Tech opened its Philadelphia campus in 1962 with one goal: to educate talented students in the much-needed skill of automotive repair. Pennsylvania and New Jersey are home to over 21 million residents, and our campus is located near the border between these two heavily populated states2. The number of automobiles on the road in the region translates into significant opportunity for trained automotive technicians to begin and maintain busy careers.
Three Potential Routes for the Automotive Student
Automotive Technology - For those who want to diagnose and repair automobiles, we offer this in-depth technical program. The student will learn automotive theory, troubleshooting, and repair of every major system in a modern automobile. The difference between the Automotive Technology course and the Automotive Repair program (below) is that shop procedures and shop management techniques are separate courses in this program.
Automotive Repair Technician – Some students may want to get out into the workforce faster, so they might be interested in our new Automotive Repair Technician program. This particular program can be completed in as little as 44 weeks for the day-time student, as opposed to the 56 weeks needed for the Automotive Technology day program. The difference between the two programs is related to the combining of shop procedures and shop management into one course. Some of the course names are also different from those the Automotive Technology program due to how the information is presented per course.
Automotive Service Management - With 1,830 hours of instruction, this program is a combination of hands-on technical training, and service shop management procedures. Graduates of this program earns an Associate degree in Automotive Service Management. It is available in day and afternoon schedules. Graduates can use this valuable knowledge to diagnose the concerns of the automotive customer, and then estimate and arrange repair with the technician. This role is a crucial link in the customer-dealership relationship.
