Scholarships were granted to students from Lincoln Tech campuses around the country:
The Barbara Kalinchak Excellence in Scholarship Award (Union, NJ Campus)
Recipient: Bjorn David - Electrical & Electronic Systems Technology
History: This award is named after Barbara Kalinchak, who began her career at Lincoln more than 50 years ago and spent a portion of that time at the Union Campus. She was a highly respected leader, colleague and friend to many in the Lincoln family, setting a high standard of excellence for herself, her colleagues and for Lincoln as a leader in the post-secondary education sector. She earned a reputation as a model of perfection and demanded excellence from those who worked with her. She was the first winner of the Chairman’s Field Service Award, which was instituted in 2002.
The David F. Carney Excellence In Nursing Award (for Practical Nursing students)
History: This award is named for David F. Carney, who joined Lincoln in 1999 as the Chairman and CEO of a small privately held system of technical schools. Through his vision and determination, Mr. Carney brought the company into the Post-Secondary Education Industry arena as a publicly traded company. He was the architect of several key acquisitions that broadened the diversity and educational programs of the company, and he increased the number of campus locations to 45. In 2007, under Mr. Carney’s watch Lincoln Technical Institute, Inc. was authorized to offer the Licensed Practical Nursing training program. After 11 years of leadership, Mr. Carney retired from Lincoln in 2010.
