The Pivot Point Curriculum & Approach
Successful stylists or makeup artists see through the eyes of a great designer, not just those of anyone cutting hair or applying makeup. A prosperous career isn’t just about technical skills, it is also essential to think as a designer and use inspiration to craft your art. It is one thing to know "how" something works, but knowing "why" something works can upgrade a student from good to great.
Pivot Point International has been a leader in the beauty world for over five decades, working to give students the "why" behind the design. The Pivot Point curriculum is based on the four facets of a designer's approach.
The Designer's Approach
- See and connect to the things around you. Students will learn to take inspiration from the ordinary and the unexpected. Like an artist, they will constantly be taking in new and innovative ideas.
- Think about the best ways to address your client's needs. Take all of your client's wants and needs into account and apply the best techniques to achieve that goal.
- Create the style that best serves your client's needs.
- Adapt your approach to their needs with your individual, creative style. Blend both the practical and the creative together to find a style that will serve your client day after day while giving them more than they expected.
Lincoln Technical Institute is a Pivot Point member school, offering students the curriculum needed to master the Designer's Approach. By using the four points of this method, students quickly improve their abilities. The hair and beauty industry is full of artists, and Lincoln Tech aims to give those artists the skills and tools they need to be successful in their craft. Lincoln's Euphoria Institute of Beauty Arts & Sciences school is committed to the same level of excellence that the Pivot Point curriculum promotes.
Through hands-on learning, lectures from professionals and artistic freedom, the training program prepares students for a successful career. Lincoln students in the cosmetology and hair design curriculum are given the Pivot Point interactive DVD system, which allows students to refresh information at any time, take self-tests and dive deeper into information they may not understand clearly, or information which piques their interest in the classroom. This supplemental material will help students excel during and after their training.
After completing the Beauty Arts and Sciences program at Lincoln, students will be able to confidently enter the cosmetology field. With both the technical skills and the designer's approach, they will be prepared to work in salons, spas, TV sets, or in the fashion industry. Wherever Lincoln graduates choose to take their talents, they will be ready to offer each client a truly artistic style.
