In 1940, Nashville Auto-Diesel College – now Lincoln Tech’s Nashville campus – introduced a collision repair program to train future professionals on how to repair damaged automobiles. Today Lincoln Tech campuses in five different states offer Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology programs, emphasizing the latest technologies for replacing parts, estimating repair costs, color-matching paint jobs, and even creating eye-catching custom artwork.
In mid-September, Lincoln Tech’s campuses in Indianapolis, IN and Melrose Park, IL attended an I-CAR industry expo to show support for the collision repair field and help give students a head start toward launching their own careers in this growing field. There are more than 38,000 jobs projected to open in collision repair and refinishing around the country by 2024 according to careeronestop.org, and I-CAR – the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair – is the world’s leading authority on collision repair training programs.
Helping Support the I-CAR Mission
Since 1979 I-CAR has supported the auto body industry by developing training curriculum and providing a forum for dialogue around issues of proper collision repair. A division of I-CAR – the Collision Repair Education Foundation – focuses on education and pre-employment for aspiring technicians, and Lincoln Tech was proud to take part in this year’s Cars, Careers and Celebrities Expo!
“This event is a great way for students to gain exposure to the collision repair industry, the various companies in it, and the organizations that support it,” says Mark Barzyk, Education Supervisor at the Melrose Park campus. “The I-CAR Education Foundation performs a valuable service by making these events happen.”
In addition to Indianapolis, Melrose Park, and the historic Nashville location, collision repair training is also offered at Lincoln Tech in Denver, CO and East Windsor, CT.
