Lincoln Tech Fosters a Family Success Story!
Would you leave a school before completing your degree to start fresh at another, all for your family? That’s what Lincoln Tech student Cynthia Quartey did, and she’d do it all over again in this family success story!
Cynthia's Family Success Story
Cynthia was attending school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse when she and her children began discussing what they wanted to do in life. The three of them made a big family decision together – Cynthia would leave the school she was attending and enroll at Lincoln Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, along with her kids, Kyle and Raven Hawkins. Lincoln Tech appealed to this close-knit family because they could attend school together, while each worked towards different degrees that would open doors to careers following graduation. A bonus for them – it was also fun!
Throughout her experience at Lincoln Tech, Cynthia felt nothing but support from her instructors and the rest of the Lincoln team – specifically instructor Monica Williams and Director of Career Services Diane Walker. “You can ask the teachers anything; it’s like talking to an auntie,” Cynthia says. “They show you the professional way to handle situations. It’s especially good for the kids to have a mentor and help them maneuver through life.”
Life Lessons Learned at Lincoln Tech
The skills learned at Lincoln Tech go beyond the technical too. Cynthia has found that her instructors bring a lot of life lessons to the table, showing how to properly act and conduct yourself within the medical field. Enrolling at Lincoln Tech has made life much happier because she loves to be working in a field helping people. Cynthia sees there are also a wide range of options to take her education further, noting, “There are a lot of doors to open, you don’t have to stick to one path.”
Cynthia, currently finishing up her externship as a Medical Assistant, is scheduled to be a member of the graduating class of 2016. Kyle Hawkins gave the commencement speech at his 2015 graduation from the Electronics Systems Technician program. He is currently working for Endeavor, in Kennesaw, GA. Raven Hawkins also graduated in 2015 and is currently a Medical Coding and Billing Specialist for Nissi Family Medicine. Cynthia’s son Stephon Hawkins, has also begun taking Lincoln Tech classes working towards becoming a Computer Network & Support Technician.
“All of us at Lincoln Tech applaud Cynthia and her family for the dedication they’ve shown in committing themselves to career training,” says Brian Capozzi, President of the Atlanta campus. “It’s truly been an honor knowing our school has had such an impact on the entire family!”
The Quartey family has made career training a family affair, launching four promising new career paths in the process of this family success story! Lincoln tech is proud to support Cynthia and her children in all of their professional endeavors!
